DaRand Land - Wander Being
The long-awaited sophomore album from DaRand Land has finally arrived. Back in the early 2000s, Chris Gray’s Deep4Life label introduced the world to Land’s ultra-smooth sound through the Blessings EP and his debut LP Calming Effect, two records that have quietly become cult classics among deep house collectors. After stepping away from the spotlight for nearly a decade to focus on family, Land returned in 2011 with a steady stream of EPs, each one expanding the contours of his deep and subtle sonic universe.
His new LP, Wander Being, was sparked by a particularly meaningful night performing at Brooklyn’s Public Records. The album format suits Land’s immersive style beautifully, and allows listeners to fully sink into his hypnotic grooves, jazzy chord voicing, and gentle, meditative melodies. It’s a rich, introspective work that reaffirms Land’s singular place in the deep house canon.
Wander Being is out now on Scissor & Thread.
